Strategy
Turn a business priority into a practical plan.
You may already know the outcome you want. The next decisions are how to pursue it, what needs to work together, and what your team can realistically take on.
Coherist helps commercial leaders turn evidence and priorities into a defined operating approach: clear choices, responsibilities, requirements and a path into implementation.
A plan built around the decision in front of you
A new commercial initiative, a change in how customers buy, or an investment in revenue systems can create a useful moment to design the next step. An effective team may want an outside perspective, focused design support or additional capacity to work through the details.
We begin with the outcome, the evidence you already have and the decisions that remain. That keeps the work connected to what leadership needs to decide and what the people doing the work need to carry it forward.
What the work can include
Priorities and choices
Translate an agreed objective into a small set of priorities. Compare realistic options, make tradeoffs visible and identify what to protect, change, defer or leave alone.
The operating approach
Define how the relevant people, processes and systems will support the outcome. This can include responsibilities, decision rights, sales and marketing handoffs, information requirements and the measures needed to guide the work.
Requirements before investment
Describe what a workflow, reporting approach or commercial system needs to do before a team commits to a tool or build. Separate essential requirements from useful additions and decisions that can wait.
A path into implementation
Sequence the work around dependencies, available capacity and the decisions leadership must make. Identify who will carry each part forward and how completion will be assessed.
What you can put to work
The deliverables are selected for the decision, rather than produced as a standard stack of documents. Depending on the agreed scope, they can include:
- A concise strategy brief stating the objective, evidence, choices and rationale.
- A prioritized roadmap showing dependencies, proposed owners and decision points.
- A future workflow or operating model describing responsibilities and handoffs.
- Business requirements for the relevant systems, information and reporting.
- A measurement plan distinguishing implementation progress from business results.
We agree which outputs are needed and how your team will review and accept them before work begins. Recommendations make the evidence and remaining assumptions visible, so leadership can decide with a clear understanding of the limits.
How we work with your team
First, we agree on the outcome, the decisions in scope and the evidence available. We then work with the people who understand the relevant customers, operations and systems to develop and test practical options. Leadership reviews the proposed direction before it becomes an implementation plan.
You provide an accountable sponsor, access to the relevant people and information, and timely decisions. Together, we establish realistic capacity, budget boundaries and review points. Your team’s knowledge is part of the work from the beginning.
Start at the point that fits
If the need and supporting evidence are sufficiently defined, we can scope Strategy directly. A prior Coherist advisory engagement is not required.
If an important question remains unresolved, Enterprise Advisory may be the better starting point. If you already have a workable plan and need help carrying out a defined part of it, explore Execution.
Strategy covers design and planning within the agreed boundary. Implementation, ongoing operational ownership and additional investigation are separately scoped. You can carry the plan forward internally, work with Coherist on selected parts, or use another provider suited to the task.
What are you ready to decide?
Tell us the outcome you want to support, what you already know and where planning help would be useful. We’ll discuss whether there is a well-defined role for Coherist.
